Phone companies try so hard to keep a phone secret before the exact unveiling. They spend millions of dollars to build the anticipation before they finally release the phone. Those teasers and micro-ads, you know all about it, right?
But how often do you read about the leaks before the actual release? Pretty much every day affair nowadays, right? Yeah, true but if the model in question is something like Sony Xperia Z1s, which is the mightier cousin of unbelievably popular Sony Xperia Z, then you will read about it as well.
That is exactly what happened with Sony Mobiles recently. Nobody is unaware that the latest Sony mobile which is coming up for a grand release is the Sony Xperia Z1s and accidentally, for a short period of time, the model showed up on the manufacturer’s website.
The phone showed up temporarily before it was withdrawn and XperiaBlog was quick to spot it. It didn’t stay for long as the moment Sony realised it, they fired the executive who did it (that is our guess of course) and deleted the page. But it stayed enough to take a few screenshots and also a few lucky people to check all about it.
Sony Xperia Z1s is nothing less than a Sony Xperia Z1 except for the fact that it has a somewhat smaller 4.3 inch screen. As the same phone has been launched in Japan under the name Sony Xperia Z1f, we know all the features it might pack already. This is an assumption of course, else why would Sony keep the lid tight but a very logical assumption at that. With a 2 GB DDR3 RAM and 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, this phone will overtake even the HTC One Mini easily, which was a more than decent phone in its own merit. Those who loved Sony Xperia Z1 yet wanted a smaller phone, Sony Xperia Z1s is exactly for them.
It often makes me wonder, looking at how idiotically these information come up on the internet, whether these leaks are intended leaks by the company or not. See, you provide one leak and the whole internet is talking about your product, what more do you need to get and gain popularity? Leak it for a short while, remove it quickly to make the leak look accidental and watch the fun while everybody discusses about your next product. Can any other marketing trick achieve the same? I wonder mate, I really do wonder.
